Supply chain  

  • FoodMap - a comparative analysis of the structure of food distribution channels in the domestic Australian food market, identifying drivers of volume and value and the relative propensity of each category and channel for the capture of value 
  • Value capture model - Analysed the global precedents in value capture in food supply chains and developed a strategy to improve value capture in the Australian market.
  • Horticulture Australia - Go for 2n5 marketing campaign assessment - Developed a methodology to define and quantify the incremental commercial value captured in the supply chain, that were caused by marketing campaign investments, to increase the consumption of fruit and vegetables.
  • Apple & Pear Australia - Explored the efficiency of Australia’s fresh apple supply chains benchmarking against overseas industries and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Tropical Fruit – Headline assessment of the supply chain improvement opportunities for producers in Australian tropical fruit supply chains.
  • Tasmanian Salmonoid Growers - Surveyed the major trade buyers of Tasmanian Salmon and developed strategies for the producer group to improve dealings.
  • Price Determination in the Australian Food Industry - The review required us to assess the relevant background developments affecting food industries and specific program initiatives.

Strategy  

  • Dairy industry priorities – developed a set of long-term national dairy industry priorities based on a set of potential future scenarios affected by external factors and industry responses
  • Australian Food Safety Centre business plan – assistance in the development of a commercial business plan for the Australian Food Safety Centre
  • Restructure of Ricegrowers Co-operative – assisted the board of the co-operative evaluate the pros and cons of different structural options for a restructure of the ownership away from a traditional co-operative model
  • Northern Dairy Industry Strategic Plan – facilitated industry planning projects for the northern (NSW and Queensland) regional dairy industry sectors including significant analysis of the outlook for the production sector as well as likely future supply chain conditions.
  • Apple & Pear industry – facilitated development of a strategic plan for the Australian Apple and Pear Industry
  • Horticulture production – Undertook a business valuation and consideration of sale options in relation to a major horticulture production business

Industry analysis 

  • Gardiner Dairy Foundation – undertook an independent review of the Gardiner Foundation’s achievements and future priorities in the context of the priorities facing the national and Victorian dairy industries 
  • NFIS – undertook a mid-term review into the achievements of the NFIS in terms of the effectiveness of the Australian Government’s food industry strategy.
  • NFIS Centres of Excellence – analysis of the future industry needs relating to functional foods and food safety & integrity in the Australian food industry as a basis for the role and objectives of two NFIS Centres.
  • National Competition Council – undertook an objective analysis of the medium-term impact of deregulation of the Australian dairy industry’s value chain – 4 years after those changes took effect. 
  • Business case for investment - evaluation of a business case for an industry and Government collaborative Centre for New Foods
  • Food industry capacity - pre-feasibility of investment in food industry capacity-building for the Southern Queensland, including an assessment of the potential priorities for future food industry development, the nature of any co-investment options and models. 
  • National Farmer Survey – we developed the concept design and content of the inaugural national dairy farmer survey in early 2004 as part of the initial Situation & Outlook report for the Australian industry, now used by Dairy Australia and the national industry on an annual basis to measure the sentiment and intentions of the production sector of the industry.
  • Advancing Dairy Australia - facilitated a study into the medium to long-term priorities for the Australian dairy industry in an environment free of regulation of price and supply.  This work included leading a major study into the long-term priorities of the production sector of the national dairy industry in the context of the global dairy market.

Other 

  • Warakirri Dairy Investment Trust – preparation of an independent review of the project for a major prospective financial investor
  • Farm enterprise project development – assisting in the development of a proposal for a major new milk production facility and its presentation to potential investors and customers
  • Independent report to shareholders in a capital rights restructure of Golden Circle
